How do I obtain full coverage of a room?

Typically, a home camera is placed in the corner of a room where it can optimize the view angle. YI Home Camera II features and advanced 130° super wide-angle to maximize the field of view. We recommend having at least two cameras to fully cover a large space, such as a living room. To completely monitor your home, users can add cameras in every room for a full home monitoring system.

Can YI Home Camera be used outdoors? What’s the highest and lowest temperature limitation?

Temperature suitable for the 1st generation YI Home Camera is -10℃~51℃, while for the 2nd generation it is -10℃~60℃. You can use YI Home Camera outdoors with proper temperature and power interface. However, please don’t put the camera in wet weather (rain or snow) since the camera is not waterproof.

Can I connect my YI Home Camera to a Wi-Fi without a password?

For the safety and privacy reasons, YI Home Camera cannot be connected to Wi-Fi with no password. If you are in such a situation, please set a secured password for your wireless router first.

How many YI Home Cameras can be connected to one account?

After downloading the app, you can add YI Home Cameras as many as you want with only one account. You can place them in different places, like bedroom, kitchen, balcony, using one account to view them and control them easily.

However, it requires sufficient bandwidth to keep all cameras connected. Each camera will occupy 0.5Mbps upload bandwidth.

What to do if I did not hear “QR Code scan is successful”?

1. If the yellow light is flashing and you hear “waiting to connect”
1)Please check if your firmware is the latest version. If not, please update your firmware following the instructions: Manual Firmware Update Instructions
2)The QR code cannot be read if the display resolution of your mobile phone is too low, too dark or it is too far from the camera lens.
3) The plastic cover on the new camera has to be removed and make sure that the lens on an old camera is clean.

2. If the yellow light is on, without any sound
Please reset your camera.

How do I resolve when the camera says that Wi-Fi password is incorrect although it is the right one?

You can check the Mac address setup in your router and make sure that the filter has been turned off. If the camera is not responding to your password, please reset the camera and try connecting again. If the issue persists, please contact support@weareYI.com

How can I see more details of the video?

YI Home Camera has 4x digital zoom capability. You can magnify the existing image to get more information. There are two ways to zoom in on the app:
1) Double click the video window
2) You can also move your fingers on the screen to enlarge the area you wish to see closer.

What shall I do if the app keep buffering the video but cannot connect?

Please check the status light:
1. Blue light is on,
1) Check if your router is connected to Internet. Check if you can successfully connect your other devices such as mobile phone or computer to Internet using this router.
2) Quit and reopen your app
3) Restart the camera (re-plug the power cord).
2. Blue light is blinking,
1) Check if the router is working normally

2) Remove the micro SD card, try to reconnect power cord
3) Try to change to another USB wire (problem could be caused by power cord or power voltage)
4) Reset the camera.

What do I do if the voice of the video is low or with noise or howling?

1. If the voice volume is low, please check if the speaker icon below the video has been muted, please increase the voice volume.
2. If you are watching the video in the LAN, please place your mobile phone more than 5 meters from the camera.
3. Please place your camera far enough from other electronic equipment such as refrigerator and microwave ovens

Why I can see the image but cannot hear the sound?

1. Please update your YI Home Camera app to the latest version.
2. Check your phone settings to see whether your app is granted for microphone permission.
